Forum of Italian Researchers on Mesenchymal Stromal Stem Cells (FIRST) is a non-profit scientific society born in 2009 with the mission to generate a valuable network of Scientists studying human and animal stem and progenitor cells from multiple tissues. 

 

Initially, FIRST has been devoted to support the large part of biomedical scientific community deeply involved in understanding mesenchymal stromal/stem cells (MSC) nature for basic and translation research and for possible clinical applications.

The most relevant aspects related to MSC such as aging/senescence, biomaterials, extracellular vesicles have been followed by FIRST.

More recently, FIRST collaborated in the organization of the first European meeting on organoids inviting the most brilliant and famous speakers working on these cool 3D models.

 

At present, in collaboration with other Italian stem cell societies (GISM, IPLASS, SCR-Italy), FIRST is a member of the StemNet federation, establishing a network among research teams and organizing joint scientific activities.
