Our mission

FIRST aims to favour the generation and dissemination of novel knowledge on stem and progenitor cell biology for effective and safe cell therapy approaches. FIRST has the purpose to promote research and clinical applications of stromal/stem cells, favouring the collaboration between Italian and foreigner researchers involving national and international research Institutions and researchers. FIRST considers regulatory and ethical aspects as fundamental issues to create constructive, respectful and fearless interactions between governmental Bodies, ethical Committees and Scientists.

FIRST will constantly implement this mission by organizing scientific meetings, seminars, workshops, multimedia web-based forum and on site training courses.

FIRST always kept an open eye on young researchers in national and international laboratories, to promote the development of their professional skills and to give them the possibilities to create present and future collaborative networks.

Since 2010, during all the events organized by FIRST, there is a special session “Young researchers – FIRST awards”, where the best abstracts have been selected for short oral presentations, and the best three talks have been rewarded with a real money prize!
